Andy Wood creating the reclaimed oak Chatham Mirror

Was born in 1969 and have lived in brighton for the last five years, with no formal training as a furniture designer, and some art training, an unconventional approach to learning has been the norm.

Travel has always been an Inspiration for my art, visiting and living in places with diferent customs and beliefs. Travelling brought me to the ancient healing practice of shamanism which has taken me to India, Nepal, Mexico and Mongolia.

"My passion is to create art that helps people reconnect to the inner nature."

The paintings are influenced by the shamanastic training I have undergone, using colour and shapes they express the experiences and feelings that I have gone through.

Designing furniture using reclaimed wood that has been In architectual structures brings a different element to my work. The wood has usually been weatherd for many years by the sea, rivers or elements, depending on what environment It has been exposed to will give the wood its own individual characteristics. I then turn this salvaged wood into fine unique pieces of functional art.
